Ebony Peaks

Ebony Peaks is a short documentary following the journey of three Black women embarking on their first mountaineering adventure, scaling peaks over 4000 meters. The film delves into the profound question: “Who do these mountains belong to?”

Produced in collaboration with El Flamingo Films and brought to life by director Tsellot Melesse, founder of the Black FLINTA Outdoor Club, the project is a heartfelt initiative aimed at giving underrepresented communities a platform to redefine role models in the outdoor space.

From Berlin to the Swiss Alps, the expedition was more than a physical challenge—it was a transformative experience. The personal backstories of the protagonists - Maria, Helen, and Hanna - add emotional depth, making this film a must-see. Their narratives resonate with strength, vulnerability, and the power of representation, creating a compelling portrait of resilience and belonging.

This project is not just a film; it’s a movement to expand the narrative of who belongs in the mountains.
